The topic of innovations development became new for the Pacific Economic Congress. The topicality of the innovations issue emerges as a priority of Federal authorities. The Far Eastern Federal University is destined to become the stronghold of the innovative development of the region.
I.Frumin, Head of the Higher School of Economics and leading expert of the World Bank, moderated the discussion, in paying special attention to the priority of universities and academic sciences in innovative processes in the APR and the Far East.
According to V.Onoprienko, Director of Science and Education Department of Primorsky Territory, it is becoming an innovations hub, where business activities and investments of innovative companies are being traced.
V.Miklushevsky, Rector of the Far Eastern Federal University, noted that according to the research analysis, the limiting factor in the innovations chain is the absence of a system for project team preparation, which leads to the lack of implementation of innovations in businesses. He believes the University to be a successful platform for launching innovations, as students unlike mature innovators are not afraid of risky projects.
A.Kosolapov, FEFU Rector's Advisor for Innovations, compared the innovative system with a food pyramid where plankton is innovators, small predators are venturists and business angels, while large carnivorous corporations are floating at the top level. According to him, we do not have this system, therefore we need to join someone else's one in order to promote our innovations. For this purpose they plan to establish the technology transfer centre at the FEFU.
In finalizing the session, Mr Frumin summed up that Far Eastern higher educational establishments, as well as many Russian ones are not yet a part of Asian Educational processes.
